Barrer Award
The Barrer Award - established 1983
The Barrer Award recognises meritorious recent pure or applied work in the field of porous inorganic materials. It is a joint award of The Royal Society of Chemistry and the Society of Chemical Industry.
The prize is given triennially, and is open to both UK and International scientists. Recipients must have carried out their pure or applied work in the field of porous inorganic materials in an institution in the UK or the Republic of Ireland. Candidates do not need to be members of either of the sponsoring societies.
Candidates may apply or be nominated for the award. In either case, a full statement of the work is required (at least 200 words), a list of any relevant publications, and the names of two referees with knowledge of the work are required. The referees should not both be from the candidate's institution or company. In addition, a separate list of the candidate's top four publications must also be provided.
Winners are presented with a certificate and a £500 prize.
The selection process is being administered by the RSC.
