Travel Bursary Application

If you would like to apply for a Travel Bursary, please fill in the form below.

Please note that applications are open from 1 January - 30 March, and from 1 August - 15 October. Bursary recipients are selected shortly after the closing dates, and applicants notified of the results within a month of the closing date. Travel bursaries are given as reimbursement for travel expenses, so please do not expect to receive the money up front to fund your travel. Awards must be claimed within two months after the conference has taken place, and must provide SCI a report of their conference attendance and pictures (to be published), along with proof of their attendance by way of receipts to claim their award.

Bursary recipients must be SCI Members by the time they claim their award. If you are not an SCI Member and receive a Travel Bursary, you must become a Member in order to claim it.

Previous recipients of Travel Bursaries are discouraged from re-applying for another Travel Bursary, so as to benefit a wider proportion of members.

Undertaking

If awarded a grant from an SCI trust fund, I agree to submit a 700 -word report of the conference/visit together with an electronic photograph for publicity purposes to SCI within 8 weeks of my return from the conference/visit. I also undertake to declare all other sources of funding and to return any sum that is in excess of the total costs. In this context, I accept that enquiries may be made by SCI.

Procedures

Applications will be submitted electronically using this form.
Candidates are required to arrange for a letter of support from a referee to be forwarded directly to SCI no later than the application closing date, providing appropriate cross-references to the applications. SCI is unable to chase referees and therefore failure to deliver will invalidate the application.
You may apply from 1 January - 30 March, and from 1 August - 15 October.
