The SCI Australia International Group grew out of the former Society of Chemical Industry of Victoria (SCIV) which was established in 1900. The merger between the two took place in 1999.

The SCI Australia International Group has over 140 members, of whom half live in Victoria, the traditional site of the chemical industry. Twenty percent reside in New South Wales and with the balance spread across the country. We even have several Members who live overseas but are still loyal and interested in the Group's activities.

The Australia International Group aims to offer a variety of activities such as lectures and seminars, plant visits, dinners and other social events to provide networking opportunities for its members.

Key activities are the Plant of the Year Award (below) and annual Student Prizes to encourage excellence in undergraduate chemistry and chemical engineering students. The Committee meets monthly, usually over dinner in south Melbourne, and is actively looking for new members to play an active role in developing what we affectionately call the 'Antipodean Group' of the Society.
