Chair's Message

Welcome to the homepage of the SCI Cambridge and Great Eastern (CaGE) Regional Group.

On behalf of the local committee, I would like to invite you to join us in our exciting range of scientific and social events. Our aim is to share and communicate a passion for science. Our evening lectures, which are generally held in the University of Cambridge Department of Chemistry, showcase some outstanding science communicators. Our annual fireworks lecture has become a popular tradition, filling the Department's lecture theatre with over 300 people.

Getting young people interested in science is a key objective. We organise schools events across the region (Herts, Beds, Cambs, Norfolk, Suffolk & Essex), and sponsor activities and lectures at the increasingly popular annual Cambridge Science Festival.

We also like to get out and about. Our varied social programme includes city walking tours, punting on the Cam, wine tastings, visits to botanic gardens and local science museums.

We also strive to strengthen our ties with local industry, schools and universities and other science organisations, particularly the RSC.

Please contact us, or better still, come to one of our events and meet the committee. We are always looking for people interested in getting involved and welcome all suggestions.
