Chair's Message
Welcome to the SCI Process Engineering Group, also known as PEG.
On 24 October 1918 the Process Engineering Group (then called Chemical Engineering Group) was created by the formal agreement of the council of the Society of Chemical Industry under the chairmanship of Professor J W Hinchley, the first chairman of PEG, as it is affectionately known within SCI.
PEG has had a long tradition since its formation, and is one of the precursors of the IChemE. It was constituted for the promotion, study and research of Process Engineering and allied disciplines.
With this in mind this year we are organising four types of event to facilitate networking among members:
- Brewery Trips (with plenty of beer tasting)
- Seminars (with wine tasting afterwards)
- Evening Lectures (with some drinks at the local pub)
- Memorial Lecture (with wine tasting and drinks at the local pub)
Brewery trips and evening lectures are always a good networking opportunity and this year we have some in London and the Northwest. The fermentation process has always been more fascinating with some sampling of the final product.
Keep an eye on the events section of the PEG group webpage for latest information relating to these events.
I encourage PEG members and public in general to communicate with the committee to suggest further events or for any other relevant comment.
