Separation Science and Technology

droplets

With the mature nature of some separation technologies, the Separation Science and Technology Technical Interest Group (formerly known as the Solvent Extraction and Ion Exchange Group) assessed in the early 1990s its future direction and role. Following this assessment, the Group extended its scope to other areas including absorption, adsorption, biosorption, distillation, filtration, flotation, membrane application and precipitation. The Group continues its international reputation for unique work in developing and disseminating knowledge of separation processes and applications, particularly in relation to Sustainable Development issues.

Coupling creativity in academia with innovation by industry has been a standard feature in all the events organised by the Group. Many delegates welcome the opportunity to network at these events to the benefit of their respective organisations. Equally beneficial is the training and professional development contribution received from these events, especially for the novice in separation science and technology. Companies recognise these benefits and regularly support financially some of the Group's events.
