What’s in my Stuff?
1 Feb 2012
'What's in my Stuff?' , by Dr Hywel Jones, taking place later in the year on 13 October 2012, looks at consumer tech in a totally new way.
We all need to consider the sustainable use of our planet's finite mineral and material resources. The availability, affordability and sustainability of supply of a number of important chemical elements used in high technology electronics means that there is a growing need to reduce, reuse and recycle technology such as mobile phones.
Dr Hywel Jones from the Materials and Engineering Research Institute at Sheffield Hallam University presents a science and art based approach to raising awareness of the use of the elements in consumer technology. Warning - this talk contains images of smashed-up mobile phones!
- The Group's prize-giving is to be held in November, at the Athenaeum in Liverpool. More details nearer the time.
