Chemical Sciences Scotland Conference 2014

15 Oct 2014

Join colleagues from across Scotland for the Chemical Sciences Scotland 3rd Biennial conference on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 October 2014 at the Stirling Management Centre, Stirling.

Chemical Sciences Scotland (CSS) is a unique partnership between industry, academia and government agencies aimed at addressing key issues affecting the success of the Chemical Sciences sector in Scotland. Launched in May 2012, the refreshed CSS Platform for Growth Strategy aims to 'sustain a vibrant and competitive Scottish chemicals industry, which will contribute to the growth of the economy consistently over the next 20 years'. Through its strategy CSS aims to increase export growth by attracting inward investment and increasing international trade, resulting in increased manufactured exports of 50% by 2020; development & manufacture innovative products, processes & solutions which reduce GHG emissions over the total product lifecycle and through the use of white (industrial) biotechnology; increase collaboration within the chemical sciences sector and with other dependent sectors, both domestically and internationally.

The 2014 Chemical Sciences Scotland conference will address the barriers to achieving these targets, focusing strongly on sustainable manufacturing and achieving high quality skills within the sector, as well as exploring international opportunities, in terms of export, trade, and partnership working.

Delegates will hear from industry leaders on these key issues as well as hearing relevant case studies from a range of SMEs across the spectrum of the sector. The conference will also offer delegates the opportunity to access key workshops lead by organisations such as the Centre for Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation (CMAC) and the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre.

Networking and collaboration will also be hot on the agenda, with the conference offering all delegates the opportunity to arrange prescheduled 1-2-1 partnering meetings. There will also be plenty of opportunity for ad hoc networking throughout the conference programme, and at the Wine Reception and Gala Dinner which will conclude the first day of talks.

The CSS conference offers companies and organisations across the UK sector an excellent platform to engage and promote their activities or products through a range of sponsorship and exhibition packages available.
