Publications Advisory Committee
About us
SCI has an internationally admired publications portfolio including Chemistry & Industry, learned journals, and books that is a major generator of income and also serves to promulgate the reputation of the Society as a charity that facilitates and promotes science communication.
The Publications Advisory Committee (PAC) is responsible for advising the Board of Trustees (BoT) on all SCI publishing activities and strategies, the strategic and business development of the existing portfolio and the development of new publication products across the full range of modern publishing platforms.
PAC, together with SCI Directors, monitors the performance of our publishing partners and works closely with them to identify and appraise publishing opportunities and threats, to ensure that editorial policies are aligned with SCI's policies and strategy, and to monitor the quality and impact of SCI's publications.
How to get involved
PAC members bring a wide range of science, business and management experience that benefits the committee. In-depth experience of publishing is not a pre-requisite for membership – this develops through participation in PAC - and new perspectives are especially welcomed.
If you are interested in finding out more about the Publications Advisory Committee and how to contribute ideas, and opinions, please contact the Chairman Peter Hambleton. Elections for new Committee Members take place at the AGM every July.
