Awards: Gordon E
Moore Medal
The Gordon E Moore Medal is awarded annually by SCI in the
US in recognition of early career success in innovation, reflected
both in market impact and improvement to the quality of life.
By highlighting extraordinary individuals and their work,
the society aims to promote public understanding of research
and development in the modern chemical industries, enhance
the interest of students in applied chemistry by providing
role models, and emphasise the role of creative research in
the global economy.
Nominees must:
- be under the age of 45;
- be a US citizen or resident; and
- have developed a breakthrough innovation that: illuminates
emerging areas of applied chemistry in the 21st century;
significantly improves the companys business by creating
a new market, expanding an existing market, or commercialising
a breakthrough process technology; and demonstrates the
positive impact of applied chemistry on the quality of life.
The Gordon E Moore Medal will be presented on 21 September
2006. The deadline for nominations is 1 February 2006. Further
