6th International Conference on Urban Air Quality
Messel bursar Zaheer Ahmad Nasar reports from the conference held in Cyprus from 27 – 29 March 2007
The 6th International Conference on Urban Air Quality held in Cyprus covered many different themes on air pollution including the use of aerosols, the urban climate, and how to measure and model air quality.
As my own area is air pollution, I was especially interested in modeling studies, which was the subject of a paper I presented. Many researchers showed interest in my work and helped me identify how to further develop my methodology. It was very useful to review my work and benchmark it against other research projects.
It was also very fruitful to discuss different aspects of air pollution studies with others, especially the researchers from the Technical University of Crete. They are working on the health impacts of pollutants and are interested in collaborating with me on indoor/outdoor particulate matter and dose-response relationships. I’m looking forward to sharing data and techniques with them.
In short, it was an informative and valuable conference, which improved my understanding of the science of urban air pollution. I was pleased to make some useful contacts and welcomed the chance to improve my presentation and communication skills
I would like to thank SCI for offering me a bursary from the Messel Fund to enable me to attend this conference.
