Multicurrency payments

SCI Members can pay in different currencies for renewals, fees for new Members, and various additional services

Multicurrency paymentsMembers can pay in US dollars (US$) and euros (€) as well as pounds sterling (GB£) , and we hope to offer other major currencies in future. The exchange rates will be set by SCI’s accounts department and regularly reviewed.

Later this year, we hope to extend the service so that Members can pay for conferences and events in different currencies. ‘This move offers Members a more convenient way to pay,’ a spokesman said . ‘SCI is an international organisation and we want our payments system to reflect this.’

Webwatch: oanda.com currency converter

oanda.comGoing travelling? Ordering something from another country? If you want to know how much your dollars, pounds or other currencies are worth in almost every country from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, www.oanda. com/convert/classic will tell you.

Simply type in the amount of money you are interested in converting and select from two lists. The first is where your money comes from, and the second is where it is going.

As Oanda is an American site, the default setting is US dollars. If you are a regular user, you may want to personalise this site, for example having a different currency as your default option. You can also change the data setting from the default American one — month, date, year —to a more European format of date, month, year. You can also choose from the Interbank rate, credit card or cash rates, among other options.
