The SCI archive has a number of books which are now surplus to its requirements and SCI is offering them to members for the cost of postage and packaging alone, or free if collected from SCI headquarters in Belgrave Square, London. So if you would like to rescue a title such as Chemicals from coal: new processes, Motor gasoline or Chemical thermodynamics in industry before they are despatched for recycling, please contact Ian Shepherd, SCI honorary librarian (pictured with some of the volumes he wishes to give away). There are around 50 titles in total – a list appears on the library section of the website. Most of them are fairly old – dating back to 1968 – and all were published by, or on behalf of, SCI.
