Insight paper launch at HQ
Strategic chemistry-based science education in the 21st century - 14 March 2006
The second SCI Insight paper Strategic chemistry-based science education in the 21st century is to be launched on 14 March with a presentation and reception at SCI International Headquarters in Belgrave Square, London.
The paper addresses the current state of science education in the UK and discusses the issues arising and how they affect industry and academia. As part of the research into this emotive topic, SCI surveyed its UK members on their views on whether or not the country is educating sufficient chemists and scientists to fulfil its requirements over the next decade.
‘The results of the research were fascinating and provided the backing of our members for the underlying themes in the paper,’ says Andrew Ladds, SCI chief executive and a member of the Insight working party, ‘The issue of science education in schools and universities in the UK needs to be tackled urgently otherwise the future of our industry may be threatened.’
The launch event, which will be followed by a reception, begins at 17.00 in the auditorium at SCI International Headquarters.
