Fair chair for Ladds

SCI chief executive to chair ‘Laboratories in the chemicals industry’ stream at LAB

SCI chief executive Andrew Ladds is to chair the ‘Laboratories in the chemicals industry’ stream at LAB, a new, biennial European trade fair and conference devoted to analysis, bio and laboratory equipment, which will take place at the ExCel Centre in London’s Docklands from 2 to 4 October 2007.

The chemical conference stream on 2 October will focus on issues of particular interest to laboratories in the chemical industry, including:

  • A flow-based approach to synthetic chemistry
  • Key elements of sampling in chemical analysis, process monitoring and quality control
  • Fibre optic spectroscopy and industrial process control
  • Strategies for the design and use of high-throughput automation
  • Electronic laboratory notebooks and laboratory informatics in the chemicals industry
  • Case study: Streamlining catalyst preparation
  • ‘Green chemistry’ and sustainable process and product development
  • Recent advances in crystallisation technology

‘I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to chair a key stream at this new and innovative conference and to introduce speakers from major world-class companies and institutions,’ Ladds said, ‘I am looking forward to joining leading industry professionals in what will undoubtedly be an interesting and thought-provoking debate on the issues affecting our industry. I hope very much that the imperatives of innovation will be embraced.’

Conference delegates will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition and make contact with leading equipment manufacturers. For further information visit www.lab-uk.co.uk/conference.
