Meet the challenges of process chemistry

Fine Chemicals Group: Introduction to Process Chemistry - Size Does Matter
20 October, Stevenage, UK

Dates for your diary
This year, the SCI Fine Chemicals Group ‘Introduction to Process Chemistry — Size Does Matter’ conference returns on 20 October. This one-day event is organised by the SCI Young Chemists’ Panel and will be held at GlaxoSmithKline in Stevenage, UK.

The conference has a target audience of undergraduates, graduates, young synthetic chemists in industry and others who have an interest in learning more about the nature of process chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry. The meeting will provide a broad overview of the process chemistry arena, incorporating a range of case histories in the scale-up of chemical processes, from both a synthetic organic, chemical engineering and physical organic perspective.

The event includes case histories from GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Avecia, Dowpharma-Chirotech and Merck, Sharp & Dohme. The meeting will provide a showcase for the range of roles, challenges and opportunities available within a process environment, helping young chemists to make an informed decision about the type of career they may wish to pursue. There may also be an opportunity to tour some of the pilot plant facilities at the Stevenage site. This conference will complement other SCI YCP meetings aimed at other aspects of the chemical industry.
