Students at the April 2006 meeting

For the eighteenth consecutive year, SCI’s Fine Chemicals Group is organising regional graduate symposia with prizes available for winning presentations. Selected final year graduate students who are completing research for a PhD in the UK will present eight to 12 lectures. The group is seeking to attract a broad spectrum of fine chemicals topics. Most organic research (synthesis, mechanisms, analysis) falls into this remit and contributions from all areas of novel organic chemistry are welcome.

tudents interested in presenting their work, or anyone who would like further information about these events, are encouraged to speak to their supervisor and contact the appropriate local organiser (below).

The best lecture in each symposium will receive an SCI Fine Chemicals Group prize of £250, with runners up receiving £100. Additionally, the regional winners will receive free bursaries to attend an SCI chemistry symposium in April 2007. Please note that the deadline for nominations will be 9 February 2007. An informal wine mixer will also be held at the end of each event.

All meetings run for a half day starting 13.00. There is no registration fee.
