Newswatch: BBC picks up
on healing properties of honey in JSFA
Research published in the Journal of the Science of Food
and Agriculture into the treatment and prevention of cancer
using honey bee products such as honey, royal jelly and even
venom proved highly popular during December, and was featured
in the health pages of BBC News Online as well as numerous
other websites. The research was carried out by scientists
at the University of Zagreb, Croatia.
Meanwhile a topical Chemistry & Industry opinion
piece regarding the pitfalls of using scientific expert witnesses
in the courtroom attracted interest from legal professionals
involved in high-profile court cases. And another C&I
feature, about the inherent structural problems in many
of the UKs crumbling multi-storey car-parks, was picked
up by several regional papers.
Finally, the awarding of SCIs Centenary Medal to Sir
Tom Mckillop was also covered online.
