Protein markers good news
for nut allergy sufferers
If
you suffer from nut allergies then a recent report from SCIs
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture may
be of interest to you. Researchers in Florida have discovered
sensitive protein markers that can detect the smallest amounts
of nut traces in processed food. The most common nuts that
cause allergies are almonds, cashews and walnuts. The news
was picked up by newspapers across the UK, in the US and by
numerous websites.
The SCI Press Office regularly highlights important peer-reviewed
research from the journals to the media so look out for SCI
published work.
