Assessing the pros and cons of outsourcing
International headquarters
Event preview: Outsourcing analytical science and services meeting
As the use of outsourced services
continues to grow in the
chemical industries, the
increased range, sophistication
and cost of analytical technologies
makes sample analysis and
measurement a significant
potential market. SCI’s Yorkshire
and the Humber Regional Group
has joined forces with industry
organisation Yorkshire Chemical
Focus to hold an afternoon
meeting entitled ‘Analytical science
and services… to outsource
or not to outsource’ at Xscape
in Castleford, West Yorkshire,
on 14 September 2006.
The event is designed to generate
discussion on analytical
needs and requirements, the
outsourced services currently
available and the benefits and
possible pitfalls of outsourcing
and keeping analytical services
in-house. The first speaker, John
Conti-Ramsden of Intertek, will
share his experiences as a supplier
in making the transition
from leading an in-house analytical
team to becoming a successful
analytical service provider.
The second, Neil Robinson
from MNLpharma, will give
the customer’s view as the
development director of a
small to medium-sized pharmaceuticals
company with an
active outsourcing requirement
in both analytical and
other developmental services.
Finally, Harry Ziman of PHS
Consulting will present results
from a recent survey carried out
on behalf of the Royal Society of
Chemistry on analytical and
measurement science in the UK.
The meeting will provide delegates
with many opportunities
for lively discussion and
networking in a friendly environment.
