Membership Executive

Membership Executive (maternity cover – to end of July 2017)

We are seeking a proactive and organised individual with an interest in science and industry, or a scientific degree or relevant equivalent experience to work with SCI’s Membership Department to increase member recruitment, engagement and retention and provide support to members and Groups ensuring that their needs are met to achieve SCI’s objectives.

The Membership Executive will act as a central contact point for SCI committees, plan and organise small events and provide support for group marketing, awards and budget activities, as well as promoting SCI activities via social media.

This is a great opportunity for a candidate who enjoys working in a fast paced, varied role including frequent interaction with volunteer committee members who work in varied industry sectors.

SCI is a unique multi-science and multidisciplinary forum where science meets business.  SCI promotes innovation and education via forums and networks which support the delivery of our charitable aim to advance the commercial application of chemistry related sciences into business.

Established by Royal Charter in 1881 by a prominent group of forward thinking Scientists, Inventors and Business people our founder members went on to set up major businesses producing many of the daily products we recognise today.

SCI members share and exchange information, ideas, innovations and research, and have access to a growing network of member specialists from sectors as diverse as food and agrisciences, environment, energy, materials and health and well-being.

Main purpose of the role:

Work with the Membership Department to increase member recruitment, engagement and retention by:

  • Providing pro-active support to members and Groups ensuring that their needs are met to achieve SCI’s objectives.
  • Acting as a contact point for committees organising group activities.
  • Planning and organising small events by providing logistics, administration, and marketing communications support.
  • Liaising with colleagues across the team to ensure that committees under your remit are fully supported in terms of their presence in online and offline communication channels, marketing, awards administration and financial support.
  • Assisting with the production of other SCI led events as required.

Salary: to £27,000 depending on experience
