Marketing and Communications Manager

Interim Marketing and Communications Manager
(12 month fixed term contract)

Salary:  competitive
Start date: immediate

A proactive and creative marketing and communications manager is sought to lead the SCI marketing team to raise awareness of the Society and its product and services. SCI carries out a multitude of activities to support science and innovation including technical conferences, public evening lectures and other events and this role will be externally focused.

Following a strategic review, SCI is working with a renewed sense of purpose, as a multi-disciplinary society, serving diverse, yet interlinked, scientific sectors in the modern science based industry. Our strategic focus is to re-establish and extend our connections with industry, focusing on innovation and building an organisation which is better able to provide real value to new and existing members at all stages of their careers.

This role will play a key part in delivering the Strategy, delivering marketing strategies and activities to raise awareness, drive membership growth as well as build SCI’s position as a knowledge hub for innovation

Key attributes include :

  • A strategic thinker with hands on-experience of planning and delivering a range of marketing activities from managing a website to delivering targeted marketing campaigns and producing marketing materials.
  • Previous experience of managing a team to deliver a range of marketing activities is essential.
  • Experienced in external communications and PR.
  • Positive, proactive and creative.
  • An interest in science preferable but not essential.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

a) Plan and coordinate SCI’s marketing activities as well as providing marketing support to other functions

  • Coordinate, influence and directly support marketing activity to ensure products and services are marketed effectively to maximise their potential.
  • Manage the use of SCI’s brand in line with the organisation’s strategy.

b) Inform and directly support the development of new projects and initiatives to ensure that they achieve maximum market penetration and impact

c) Coordinate PR and promotional activities across SCI’s activities including awards, news and events

The role will be based at the Society’s offices on Belgrave Square.
