SCI is pleased to announce that our Honorary President, Paul Booth, Chairman of SABIC UK Petrochemicals, has been awarded an OBE for services to the Chemical Process Industry in the New Year’s Honours List. Paul has worked in the chemical industry for over 40 years, including 32 years with ICI and 7 years with Huntsman, and is now in a senior position with SABIC.
In addition to representing SCI, Paul is actively involved in promoting the economic potential of chemical related industries through his roles as member of the CIA Council, Chairman of NEPIC, industrial representative on the TVU LEP and Board Member for Plastics Europe North. Paul also has a strong interest in the training and development of people and sits on the Board of Governors for Teesside University.
Paul’s passion for connecting different stakeholders in order to find solutions to global issues such as sustainable energy was highlighted during his presentation on Chemical Connections to the last SCI AGM in July 2012.
SCI warmly congratulates Paul on this well deserved honour. We look forward to his continued support in helping SCI to collaborate with academia, industry and like-minded organisations so that we can harness our combined knowledge and networks to solve the challenges facing society.
