Membership Executive

Membership Executive (Initial 18-month contract)

Start date: Immediate

Location: Central London

SCI was established in 1881 by a prominent group of forward-thinking scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs interested in creating physical products and processes from the science and then delivering them to society. Many of the founders went on to create significant companies of the last UK Industrial Revolution – such as Unilever, ICI and Procter and Gamble.

Today, with members in over 70 countries and with over 200 companies and 120 academic institutions represented in our network, SCI facilitates Open Innovation, identifies and promotes Emerging Technologies and provides support for the next generation of scientists and engineers required by industry

To support our future growth, we are recruiting for a Membership Executive, this role is initially an 18-month role with a possibility of extension, and will involve membership support, awards management and committee support activities.

You will also support our wider work and the development and implementation of new products, activities and services, working collaboratively across teams and closely with marketing and communications colleagues.

This is a great opportunity for a candidate who enjoys working in a fast paced, varied role including frequent interaction with volunteer committee members who work in varied industry sectors.

Knowledge, skills & experience

  • Enthusiastic and proactive approach to work
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of CRM systems
  • A demonstrable interest in science and its application in a commercial context and/or experience of supporting membership or committee activity in a related organisation
  • Degree related to physical or life sciences, or engineering or minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related role

Salary £25 - £28K per annum.
