Venue Executive

Venue Executive (Initial 12-month contract)

Location: Central London

SCI is a membership organisation connecting science and business and building a community for like-minded individuals to exchange ideas, share knowledge and collaborate to achieve common goals.

Based in Belgrave Square in a Grade I listed building, our venue offers a welcoming home for discussion to take place, and acts as a central hub for meetings, dinners and events. With a number of flexible meeting areas, and a 140-seat auditorium.

To support increased venue bookings, we are recruiting a Venue Executive to assist with the day to day running of operations related to venue management services. This role is initially a 12-month role with a possibility of extension and will involve high level administrative support for venue booking and follow up processes. The post holder will gain a breadth of experience across the whole venue hire pipeline and will work closely with Premises and Account Management staff to ensure excellent levels of customer service are delivered.

This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is keen to deliver excellent levels of customer service, and enjoys working in a fast paced, varied role with significant interaction with external clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for venue hire enquiries and throughout the venue booking process
  • Ensuring all records relating to room bookings are up to date, and providing routine reports against progress
  • Liaison with external service providers to ensure all aspects of venue hire are covered

Knowledge, skills & experience


  • Experience of managing projects or events to a specified deadline
  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Happy to work with changing priorities to deliver excellent customer service
  • Excellent communication skills: phone, email and in person
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to meet tight deadlines
  • Able to work alone of in a team
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Able to be calm under pressure
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work outside of core contracted hours from time to time (TOIL will be applied)


  • An interest in science and its application in industry
  • Experience using CRM or other database systems
  • Experience in an income generating role
  • An interest in industry or business related to science and technology

Salary £20,000 - £22,000 per annum.
