    Introducing SCI Ambassador, Anna Zhenova

    Anna Zhenova SCI Scholar 2017

SCI is trying to forge connections between industry and academia

    What are your research interests?
    Green Chemistry

How did you first get involved with SCI?
I heard about the SCI Scholar program from my university and applied.

What do you hope to gain from your involvement with SCI?
I’d like to learn more about the chemical industry in the UK and Europe, and improve my understanding of how chemical research is done in industry. I also hope to help industry understand and adopt green chemical practices.

Why would you encourage your peers to join SCI?
I think the default assumption of going into academia after a chemistry Ph.D. is changing, which makes it important to understand industrial needs even as a student. SCI is trying to forge connections between industry and academia, which is critical as more and more Ph.D. chemists go directly into industrial careers.
