Synopsis

Following the highly successful FCG/YCP Webinar Series held earlier this year, SCI’s Fine Chemicals Group and Young Chemists' Panel (FCG and YCP) are proud to host further webinars to support learning and development for chemists in industry and academia.  These online sessions provide a global platform for chemists worldwide and we hope that you will join us in the upcoming series of webinars demonstrating high quality chemistry in an accessible format.

Registration for this lecture is currently free, made possible by our generous sponsors.  If you or your organisation would be interested in supporting this webinar, or those in the future, please contact conferences@soci.org

Tuesday 1 December

Talk 1 and 2: Synthesis, Kinetics & Process Analytical Technology: Applications and Case Studies from Drug Substance Development.
Dr Robert Cox and Dr Heidi Fisk, AstraZeneca

Attendees
This event is relevant to industry and academic scientists working in process chemistry, as well as those keen to find out more about this area. Feedback from the previous series highlighted the valuable training and learning opportunities offered by these lectures making them applicable to students and early career researchers as well as those with more experience in the field.
Speakers

Dr Robert Cox

AstraZeneca

Robert Cox is a physical organic chemist at AstraZeneca. He received his PhD from University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Prof. Guy Lloyd-Jones before taking up a position in the process understanding team at AZ in 2015. Robert’s main interest is in using phys-org chemistry for process understanding but has also branched into data management, DoE, PAT and automation.

Dr Heidi Fisk

AstraZeneca

Studied Medicinal & Biological Chemistry at The University of Nottingham followed by a PhD in Chemistry at The University of Manchester studying the development of Raman spectroscopy to directly monitor biotransformations. Heidi joined AstraZeneca in 2017 as a senior scientist specialising within Process Analytical Technology (PAT) for drug substance (API) development. This involves providing process understanding during the development of APIs using spectroscopic methods, along with creating in-situ methods, with a focus on oligonucleotide development.
