Three SCI Scholarships offer chance to further your career

12 January 2021

‘…I am confident that support offered by SCI will be invaluable to the progress and application of my research.’

If you are a PhD student, nominations are now open for one of three, two-year SCI Scholarships. Each successful applicant will receive £5000, over two years, as well as a number of other benefits, including publishing opportunities, which will help support you on the road to your next career move.

The process is self nomination, but you must be approaching the final two funded years of research, (self-funded students may also apply). Applications are invited across the scientific and engineering spectrum represented by the SCI Technical Interest Groups.

To be eligible you must be an SCI standard or student member. The SCI Scholarships are not available to SCI e-members or non-members.

If you are interested in nominating yourself, complete the application form. The nomination deadline is 30th April 2021. All applications will be judged by SCI’s Early Careers Committee.

The SCI Scholarships, which are highly regarded by academics and industry professionals, were established in 1920, made possible by the bequests of Rudolph Messel and John Gray, former Presidents and founding members of SCI.

On receiving his award, Arron Aatkar one of three 2020 SCI Scholarship winners said ‘…this will provide a wealth of opportunity for me to develop as a scientist and as a versatile individual. In addition, I am confident that support offered by SCI will be invaluable to the progress and application of my research.’

Winners will be required to attend an SCI awards event.
