SCI established the College of Scholars to help current members (Scholars) make the most of the opportunities an SCI award provides and to highlight SCI resources that may be of value in current research and future career roles.

The College of Scholars comprises all current and past recipients of the RS/SCI PhD StudentshipsSCI Scholarships and Travel Bursaries together with all early career award winners, early career committee members, SCI ambassadors and the Ramsay and Daphne Jackson Fellows.

The College provides a framework to facilitate the integration of its members within SCI. It seeks to support them throughout the period of their funding and active involvement with SCI by providing mentoring, networking and a welcoming forum for their research presentations. After the completion of their funded period, the College provides a platform for continued contact once their careers develop, drawing on the expertise of former Scholars and other SCI members as mentors and lay-advisors to SCI. By accompanying Scholars as their careers mature, the College supports and develops a strong network and builds a base for future leadership.

The purpose of College of Scholars is to:

    • Develop and support a community of current and former Scholars, within SCI's network
    • Support Scholars in their research endeavours and help them develop their careers
    • Build a base for future active membership and leadership within SCI
