Synopsis
  • The use of fragrance is ubiquitous in the fast-moving consumer goods market.
  • Fragrances contribute to the core of the consumers’ experience of a range of products from detergents and shampoos through to floor cleaners, as well as fine fragrances.
  • This lecture will provide a brief history of fragrances and how they have developed into the industry we have today.

During this talk, Dr Simon Ellwood Head of Health & Well-being Centre of Excellence – Fragrance and Active Beauty Division, Givaudan, will not only provide a history of fragrances but will focus on the chemistry and tools behind the invention, identification, and the production of ingredients. Dr Ellwood will then explain the science behind the formulation of the ingredients into safe fragrance formulas, incorporated into consumer products.
