Day of Science and Career events 2017

15 Mar 2017

Are you just about to make your first steps on your career ladder or are you thinking about switching jobs? Maybe you are confused about the myriad of career options available to you and find making that first move a daunting prospect?

SCI’s Day of Science and Careers events* are aimed at undergraduate, postgraduates and early career professionals. They are designed to give information about the wide range of careers covered in science-based industries.

SCI will be hosting two Day of Science and Careers events in April:

  • Day of Science and Careers Scotland, University of Edinburgh, 05 April
  • Day of Science and Careers London, SCI, London, 26 April

Day of Science and Careers Scotland returns for its third year, and will take place at the University of Edinburgh on 05 April. This increasingly popular event, will include a range of speakers from different industrial, academic and independent backgrounds. Speakers will talk about their experiences in; the pharmaceutical industry, analytical chemistry, academia, scientific publishing, patents, regulatory affairs, and more. The day will end with a session on job applications. The University of Edinburgh’s Careers department will show us how to write the perfect CV and CY Partners, a scientific recruitment agency will give us advice on how to nail that all-important job interview.

Day of Science and Careers London, now in its sixth year, will take place on 26 April at SCI’s prestigious Belgrave Square premises. A similar line-up of speakers to its Scottish counterpart, the London event will also include a session on effective networking and an interactive activity/workshop, and will end with a talk on top tips for successful job applications from Imperial College London’s Careers Department.

Both events are free to attend (for members and non-members) and will provide plenty of opportunities to network with speakers and fellow delegates in the refreshment breaks and post-event drinks receptions.
