Charitable Objectives
The charitable objectives of the Society, as specified in the Charter, are to advance the science of applied chemistry and related sciences for the public benefit.
Governance
SCI's governance structure ensures that an appropriate range of skills and experience exists within the Board of Trustees and there is an open line of communication between trustees and the directors and managers running the day-to-day business of the Society.
Code of Principles
SCI believes in international accessibility, being collaborative, protecting its independence and public trust and demonstrating thoughtful responsibility, which embraces diversity.
History

Originally established in 1881, SCI is a registered charity with individual Members in over 70 countries. The America International Group was established just three years later.
