Profile: Tony Ramgobin, Director of Operations

Tony Ramgobin

Tony Ramgobin joined SCI in 2006. Prior to this he worked for the Royal Mail Group Plc, where his first challenges were to refocus one of the UK’s most ubiquitous brands and drive-up marketing performance and integration across RM’s strategic business units.

He was Marketing Director of its Consumer Division where he grew the turnover to £750m. He was also responsible for managing a product portfolio of £2bn, an annual marketing budget of more than £100m and leading a team of 500 staff. In his last four years with the Group, Tony worked with the Board on a number of strategic projects. These included the development of the Group's e-Commerce strategy and to re-think the Group’s future commercial direction following a period of expansion and investments into global markets.

Previous to this, Tony worked for three other companies, the P&O Group (the business services division) where he was its corporate head for marketing, providing marketing coordination and integration. At P&O, he pioneered a cross-selling programme across the Group’s businesses to create value and generate additional cross-selling revenues, which would otherwise be lost. Tony has also worked in other markets and with other leading FTSE organisations including Thorn-EMI Group (a communications, technology and manufacturing company) and Dixons Group Plc, in the UK and internationally.

He has a strong commercial and strategic marketing background in a variety of industry sectors. His business skills include M&A, process and performance improvement, strategy formulation and implementation, business planning and cross-business coordination and integration.

Since joining SCI, Tony has developed and implemented the new brand face for SCI and has project managed the implementation of a new CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database and website. Tony sees technology as an important business enabler to assist SCI with extending its reach and influence, as well as improve efficiency and deliver quality services to its members and users.

Tony is a marketing graduate with an MBA from Middlesex University (London) and Pace University (New York). He is married and has two boys. He has a keen interest in behavioural science, supports Chelsea Football Club and enjoys interior design.
