Biotechnology
Biotechnology is now a common feature in production, manipulation and consumption of organic materials. A major economic sector in business, biotechnology is continuously expanding and now is an important tool in environmentally clean processing and pollution cleanup. However, consumer attitudes in many countries around the world continue to be guarded at best.
SCI Biotechnology Technical Interest Group's main interest is in the application of biotechnology within its traditional areas of food and agriculture as well as the new and rapidly developing areas of clean processing, pollution cleanup, pharmaceuticals, materials and energy. The Group also provides a crucial and objective interface between scientists, regulators, lobbyists and members of the general public through its schedule of meetings and conferences.
European Federation for Biotechnology
SCI members are eligible for free membership of the European Federation for Biotechnology, which is one of SCI's collaborator organisations.
