RS/SCI Studentships Sydney Andrew Studentships

Dr Sydney Andrew FRS

The studentship scheme, which has been set up with the legacy left to SCI and the Royal Society (RS) by former SCI life member Sydney Andrew, provides funding for two RS fellowship scheme Fellows and gives them the opportunity to enlist a student to support the project they want to undertake.

The research areas for the two current Fellows are diverse; one covering the lyotropic liquid crystalline (LC) materials where Dr Tiffany Wood will assist the Mentholatum Company Ltd by exploring the self-assembly of colloids within two different types of lyotropic LCs. The other will see Dr Stuart Reid research into quantifying the level of carbon dioxide in respiratory gases for the safe monitoring of patients under anaesthesia.
