Scotland
SCI Scotland Regional Group was established in 1999 on the foundation of the earlier SCI Aberdeen Section. The idea behind the Scotland Regional Group was to relaunch and unify the various historical Scottish chapters, by taking advantage of the modern developments in electronic communication. The launch was timed to coincide with the creation of the Scottish Parliament. Since 2000, the Group has gone from strength to strength.
Members come from across Scotland and are employed in a variety of areas directly involved in, or related to, the application of science.
Like other SCI Regional Groups, Scotland aims to represent the Members' interests at the local community level. The range of events organised by the Group are widespread both in topic and geography to ensure that as much of Scotland is encompassed as possible. The Group also organises several events each year targeted at schools - both primary and secondary - and universities.
SCI Scotland Regional Group regularly collaborates with a number of SCI Technical Interest Groups. Externally, the Group has good collaborative relationships with the local chapter of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the Scottish Institute of Enterprise (SIE) and other similarly focussed organisations
