JSFA Reports is a peer reviewed, Gold Open Access journal published by SCI, a not for profit organisation committed to advancing sound science in Food Science and Agriculture. Originally established as a cascade journal for the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, JSFA Reports is now gaining strong momentum. Reflecting its growing topical relevance, particularly in areas aligned with Pest Management Science, the journal accepts referrals of manuscripts rejected from Pest Management Science, offering authors an alternative high quality publication route.

Role purpose

To support the efficient handling of manuscripts, we are seeking an Editor with expertise in pest management and related disciplines. This role will take primary responsibility for triaging submissions, overseeing the peer review process and making editorial decisions, specifically for manuscripts cascaded from Pest Management Science. The position is critical to maintaining the quality and integrity of JSFA Reports as the journal scales its editorial capacity and expands its coverage in pest focused research areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess completed peer review reports and revised manuscripts
  • Make clear, timely editorial decisions aligned with SCI’s publishing standards
  • Maintain ethical integrity and transparency across editorial processes
  • Work closely with internal SCI staff and Wiley’s publishing support team
Person Specification
  • PhD in Agriculture, Chemistry, or a related discipline; particular interest in pest management science would be an advantage
  • Experience with peer review processes in academic publishing
  • Strong decision-making and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with editorial platform, ScholarOne (training can be provided if needed)
  • Commitment to SCI’s mission of advancing science for the benefit of society
Time Commitment & Remuneration

This is a flexible, part-time role suitable for academics and professionals, who are seeking engagement with editorial work. Terms and honorarium to be discussed based on experience and availability.
