GDPR – what it means for you.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018. It offers individuals more control over how their data is managed.

How does SCI manage my information?
SCI already manages data on members, customers and partners in line with GDPR.

Data is held in a secure system, that is only available to those members of staff who need it to manage your involvement with SCI.

SCI respects every individual’s right to:

  • know what information, we hold on you,
  • have access to the information,
  • to change the information,
  • to ask for information to be deleted (right to be forgotten),
  • ask us not to use information we hold on you, and
  • to object to your information being stored and used.

How can I see or change the information you hold on me?
If you are a registered user of the SCI website, you will be able to see and amend the information we hold on you at: www.soci.org/my-sci.

All other requests should be made to membership@soci.org.

If you are not a registered user, you can get the information by contacting membership@soci.org. Alternatively, if you contact web@soci.org, we can create an account for you to be able to manage your information yourself.

How can I manage what information you send to me?
We want to make sure that you continue to receive information that is relevant and of interest to you.

Why not take a minute now and update your preferences at www.soci.org/my-sci. If you do not have an account to access the SCI website, you can update your preferences via this form.
