Synopsis

Companies succeed by making the right product for the right cost, with the right quality and at the right time. Increasingly, they are also driven by the need to reduce their footprint (both in consumption and emission) and to provide a positive impact on the environment. Digital technologies offer the ability to increase productivity, improve quality, gain more consistency, develop flexibility, and communicate up and down the supply chain.

Industry has always measured performance. As we have acquired the ability to measure multiple aspects of a business, we have learned that once we can measure, we can monitor performance at all levels, and that if we can measure performance, we can seek to improve it.

What we are seeing now is an unprecedented and accelerated pace of change within digitally enabled manufacturing. This is down to the availability of more powerful computers, cheaper and larger data storage solutions, faster and more reliable connectivity, and cheaper and more accurate sensors. This accessibility offers a diverse range of potential solutions: from machine learning to accelerate computational drug discovery; the utilisation of digital twins to design and optimise entire production lines; and increasingly accurate calculations of cradle-to-grave impact for products across manufacture and use.

Choosing a path through all the available ways to apply digital techniques to your company is challenging. SCI is setting up a community where you can learn from those who have already started that journey. The community will be managed by a committee of practitioners and run for the benefit of all.

Join this launch event for a programme which will include case studies of successes, challenges, and opportunities arising from the implementation of digital solutions to a variety of industry settings. The event will also offer multiple opportunities to network with others and discuss best practice in implementation, the latest technology, and some of the solutions being offered.

Attendees

Attendance at this event is welcomed from scientists and engineers in industry and academia with experience in developing and implementing digital solutions, as well as researchers and technology directors with an interest in leveraging new technologies to increase productivity in their organisation.

Please note that this event is targeted at delegates who are active in relevant industry sectors and overall places will be limited. Therefore, SCI reserves the right to request additional information about a delegate’s experience prior to confirming their place.
