The SCI British Carbon Group is holding a half-day meeting on ‘Sustainable Carbon Management’ at Imperial College on Wednesday 6 November.
The need to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide has focused very largely on the energy and transport sectors. However, carbon itself, either in the elemental form or in carbon-rich biological products is often disposed of without thought to potential savings on CO2 emissions. This half-day meeting will hear from experts how it can be recycled or re-used in a much more ecologically-conscious fashion.
The meeting will include the 6th Ubbelohde lecture, to be given by Prof Francisco Rodriguez Reinoso. Other presentations will be given by Dr Geoff Fowler on recycling carbon from used industrial products and by Dr Steve Ragan on manufacture of Activated Carbon with Sustainable Resource.
The event will also incorporate this year’s AGM of the British Carbon Group.
SCI accessibility grants are available to support SCI members with disabilities, long term health conditions, those who require a carer, and members who are nursing parents to attend SCI events. Download an application form to apply for a grant.
