Synopsis

The Mid Careers group annual conference will return to Belgrave Square in October 2022.  This will be the 6th iteration of the conference which seeks to support and foster a network of mid-career professionals in the science community.

As the UK comes out of the Covid pandemic the future of our careers and the impact this has on our colleagues, teams and workplace, has no doubt changed. A better work life balance for some, increased use of remote working tools and shifting priorities. For others things may have remained almost constant. The event will cover reprioritisation, networking, being resilient and new approaches to work. Listen to your peers discuss how they have handled the pandemic and what they plan to continue to do. Hear from a leading supplier of future workplace improvements that could help your team. And restart the conversations in person you may have missed, helping you be effective in your workplace.

Attendees

This face-to-face conference will give you the opportunity to reconnect with members of the Mid Career focus group, as well as learn some best practices and hints for the “new” workplace. The event is aimed at mid-career professionals who are looking to reengage with those in their peer groups. There will be several short interludes where you can network and catch up as well as a chance to pose questions to a panel of your peers.

Please note that the event is targeted specifically at mid-career professionals and overall places will be limited. Therefore, SCI reserves the right to request additional information about a delegate’s general career experience prior to confirming their place.

A mid-career professional ....

  • has greater than 10 years’ career experience
  • is in a 2nd or 3rd role or has developed specialised expertise in a particular area
  • wishes to develop in their current role or is thinking about their next step up the career ladder
