Synopsis

This is the first event of a series of forums for people from academia and industry. It will provide an opportunity to talk about issues of relevance to both groups, to network and to listen to a number of experts' views on innovation.

This event is for all representatives of academia and industry, with a focus on academics seeking to understand the problems and opportunities facing industry, and industrialists seeking to understand potential opportunities and advantages of working with academics.

Dr Charles Day

CEO, Innovation and Science Australia

Dr Day is Head of the Federal Government’s science and innovation initiative, part of the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and will talk about government’s role in creating an environment for innovation in Australia.

Dr John Landells

Partner, F B Rice Patent Attorneys

As a partner in one of Australia’s leading Patent Attorneys, Dr Landell will talk about the importance of protecting innovations in order to maximise returns.

Ms Sophie Williams

Head of Finance and Controlling, BASF

Ms Williams will focus on the importance of innovation to a big multinational chemical company.
