Synopsis
Following the success of the 2025 event, Chemist in Industry is returning in 2027 for its 3rd iteration. The program will consist of talks and posters selected from abstracts, a plenary career retrospective and culminate in the presentation of the prestigious “Chemist in Industry” award.
Solving chemistry problems is central to so many industries and it is the people in the laboratories who are making this happen. This is a meeting to celebrate and recognise that community.
This one-day meeting will be of interest to chemists working in different chemical industries (e.g. pharmaceutical, catalysis, agrochemical, materials and biotransformations).Particularly, laboratory-based scientists and technical experts (for example computational chemists) with several years’ industrial experience.
Attendees
This one-day meeting will be of interest to chemists working in different chemical industries (pharmaceutical, catalysis, agrochemical, materials, biotransformations). It presents an opportunity to learn about how new chemistry methodology and technology is being developed and used in different industries.
Perhaps you are in a second or third role in industry with a story to showcase? It presents a superb opportunity for chemists to showcase the relevance of chemistry to industrial research. It will also provide an opportunity for attendees to develop their CV with presentation and networking skills opportunities. Prizes will be awarded for the best talk and runners-up.
Call for speakers
We are inviting talks from speakers from across the chemical industry
(e.g. pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, materials biotransformations, catalysis, agrochemical, computational). Talks should be 30 minutes in length and present the relevance of chemistry to problem solving in industrial applications. They should be from experienced laboratory-based scientists who have had direct involvement in the work described.
Please send an abstract (100 words max) with the subject line “Chemist in Industry – oral submission”, along with a title, scheme or figure (if applicable) and a very brief career history to conferences@soci.org by Friday 23 October 2026. Please download an abstract template.
Call for posters
Opportunities are available for a limited number of posters which align with the theme of the meeting. Interested applicants should send an abstract (maximum one A4 page) by Thursday 22 October 2026 with the subject line “Chemist in industry – poster submission”. Please download an
abstract template.
