This event is no longer available for registration.
Fire science operates across socio-economical as well as science and technological boundaries. Focus on the fire behavior of materials, primarily natural and synthetic polymers, determines safety of the built environments, transport and civil and defence issues. Within the materials chemical sector the importance of thermal and fire behaviour is significant for a majority of areas of interest defined by SCI's Technical Interest Groups.
The SCI Fire and Materials Group (FMG) will promote research and developments into the interactions between fire and materials, and their relevance to fire safety, by providing a forum for the discussion of pure and applied research in these areas. The FMG will also provide a unique UK interface between the academic and industrial/commercial sectors. Emphasis will be placed on holding regular meetings to encourage the discussion of ongoing research and its broader applications, particularly among younger scientists. Membership is open to industrialists and academics, including students, with an interest in this important area. This will be an active Group with likely interaction and crossover with SCI's Materials Chemistry Group.
Join us for our inaugural meeting where presentations will include Baljinder Kandola (B.Kandola@bolton.ac.uk); Dick Horrocks (arh1@bolton.ac.uk); Dennis Price (dp3@bolton.ac.uk).
