Synopsis

We are pleased to announce SCI Liverpool & North West Regional Group's prize-giving and buffet.

The SCI L&NW Group awards student prizes on an annual basis at universities within our geographical region. This year we will be presenting our student prizes at The Athenaeum and we hope you will be able to join us to celebrate with our prize-winners.


About the speaker

Our guest speaker for the evening is Professor Joe Sweeney, the Chair of Organic Synthesis at Lancaster University. He will be giving a talk entitled 21st-Century Medicines: an Endangered Species?

Professor Sweeney obtained his degree from Imperial College London before completing a DPhil at The University of Oxford in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. Professor Sweeney was a Royal Society Fellow at ETH in Zurich before starting his academic career where he has held a number of academic posts notably at The University of Leicester, Bristol, Reading and Huddersfield as well as a prestigious Royal Society Industry Fellowship with AstraZeneca. Professor Sweeney is also an active member of both the RSC and SCI.
