The trillions of bacteria that inhabit the human gut are inextricably linked with host health. The human gut microbiome contains over 10 million bacterial genes. Decreases in microbial gene counts and population diversity are associated with a range of clinical conditions. The seminar will discuss the potential of applying various -omics technologies to understand the interplay between microbial functionality and human health.
