Preceding the Lister Memorial Lecture with Prof Dame Sally Davies at 17:00, this event will include a series of exhibitions and interactive sessions on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
Manned by leading members of Scotland's scientific community, there will be a range of exhibits on offer from introducing bugs, their growth and resistance, to displaying and showcasing some of Scotland's latest technologies in the field.
In addition to these exhibitions, The Young Academy of Scotland Working Group, Research The Headlines, will hold a one-off workshop on 'Exploring Stakeholder Perspectives in Antimicrobial Resistance.' This workshop will explore how antimicrobial resistant infections are portrayed in the media and how these stories are not always representative of the science they report. The workshops will discuss the science that underpins the antimicrobial resistance problem and also allow participants to discuss antimicrobial resistance from the perspectives of a range of stakeholders.
There will also be an Expert Panel Debate, offering up the chance to hear from some of Scotland's distinguished leaders within Antimicrobial Resistance. We are lucky enough that Dame Sally will also be contributing to the debate. Audience members are invited to submit relevant questions for the experts prior to the event. Submission of questions will be through the registration process.
