Following on from the success of last year's event, the presentation of the Young Lipid Scientist Award 2015 continues to recognise the excellence and emerging talent in research related to lipids, in any field across the physical and life sciences and engineering.

SCI Members attending this meeting are able to claim CPD points.
Applicants must be currently studying for a PhD in the UK or be a UK citizen.
Applicants are requested to submit a 300 word abstract of their research on a lipids-related theme to nadine.cameron@soci.org by the closing date of 8 May 2015.
Suggested topic areas include (but are not restricted to) neuroscience, digestion and metabolism, crystallisation of triacylglycerols, functioning of phospholipid membranes, compositional analysis, processing and disease prevention.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email by 20 May 2015.
All those invited to give oral presentations will be provided lunch and refunded reasonable travel expenses (second class off-peak return rail fare).
Presentations will be 15 minutes long and should be supported by an accompanying Powerpoint presentation.
The winner will be selected by a vote of the Lipids Group Committee and will receive a prize of £100, a certificate, and one year complimentary membership of SCI (worth £25).
They will also be eligible to give an oral presentation at EuroFedLipid 2015 in Florence for which the SCI will cover expenses up to the value of £400 to attend.
