The Pure and Applied Macromolecular Chemistry Group (Macro Group UK), is a joint interest group of SCI and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The Group collectively has over 1500 members drawn from academia and industry and spans the entire career range from research student to senior positions in industry and academia.

In bringing together practitioners at every level they are able to play an important role in influencing both the strength and direction of polymer chemistry in the UK by:

  • Organising meetings, conferences, disseminating, discussing and evaluating polymer science and technology
  • Providing bursaries to support student attendance at conferences
  • Helping to ensure a continuing climate of academic and industrial excellence in polymer science
  • Awarding medals recognising outstanding contributions to polymer science
  • Disseminating information to members via a newsletter and bulletin (issued jointly with the Polymer Physics Group)

The Macro Group has its own dedicated website:

SCI collaborates with a number of organisations. Further details can be found on our Collaborations page.

If you are looking for a way to become more involved with SCI, you might want to consider becoming one of our active volunteers.

SCI volunteers work at the heart of SCI. As a volunteer, you will create and strengthen your skills, interact with people from different backgrounds, gather new and experiences and build your confidence and credibility. Contact membership@soci.org for more information.
