CIC/SCI Canada, the business forum of the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC)/Society for Chemical Industry (SCI), will host its annual Awards Dinner in Toronto on March 30, 2017. The event recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the chemical sciences and engineering related industries. 'Our awards will recognize top achievers and leaders in their chemical sectors. The awards dinner is a prestigious event where we honour these individuals', says David Beckman, Chair, SCI Canada. In addition, CIC/SCI Canada will recognize the highest performing graduating undergraduate students in chemistry, biochemistry and chemical engineering from universities across Canada. 

CIC/SCI Canada 2017 Award Recipients

Canada Medal: Mark Lievonen, Sanofi Pasteur
International Award: Murray McLaughlin, Bioindustrial Innovation Canada
Julia Levy Award: David Allan, Cresswell Advisors Inc.
Kalev Pugi Award: Molly Shoichet, University of Toronto
LeSueur Memorial Award: Ravi Gukathasan, Digital Specialty Chemicals 
Purvis Memorial Award: Bonnie Schmidt, Let’s Talk Science

The annual Canadian Green Chemistry and Engineering Network (CGCEN) Green, Clean and Sustainable Chemistry Seminar, which features the CIC/SCI Canada award recipients and other leaders from industry and academia, will take place directly preceding the awards dinner. Reflecting the CIC/SCI Canada motto of 'where science meets business', speakers will focus on the challenges and successes in the chemical industry and will participate in stimulating discussions and networking opportunities.

The CIC/SCI Canada event works to bring science and business together by enhancing connections between industry and chemical science and engineering professionals. 'Each year the award winners and presenters deliver the highest caliber of presentations offering great insight into their fields of expertise. Young members attending the seminar are given invaluable opportunities to learn from and meet these leaders', says Andy Hrymak, Chair, CIC.
